Pigtails

Fibre optic pigtails are utilised in terminating optical fibres either by fusion or mechanical splicing. They are available in various fibre counts and construction styles including coloured 900µm tight buffered fibre, cord style, 12 fibre round mini high density cable or tight buffered multi-fibre riser/breakout cable.

Pigtails are manufactured with either multimode or single mode fibre and terminated with a range of connectors including SC, SC/APC, LC, LC/APC, FC, FC/APC, ST and MTRJ. Other connector types are also available on request.

Features & Benefits

General

  • Machine polishing ensures highest quality connector terminations and performance
  • Low insertion and return loss for reliable network performance
  • Traceable, standard based testing procedures
  • Geometry compliant connector end faces, defect and contamination free
  • Prompt ex-stock or custom manufacture turnaround and delivery

High quality 900µm tight buffered fibre

  • Soft PVC fibre buffer with less residual memory for ease of stripping, splicing, management and neater looming
  • High quality coloured buffer is easy to identify in all lighting conditions

Round mini high density cable

  • Neat and efficient handling of high density applications as pigtails contains 12 x 250µm fibres with an outer diameter (OD) of only 3mm

Cord style or tight buffered multi-fibre cable

  • Added mechanical protection through use of 2mm and 3mm simplex cord style cables or multi-fibre riser/breakout style cables

Applications

  • Termination of optical networks via fusion or mechanical splicing
  • Testing of optical devices
  • Cable acceptance testing
